Piaf occultation - 2007 October 05

Discussion:

The circle above is plotted at the expected 26 km diameter of Piaf at the predicted position. The time reported is well within the 1 sigma zone but with only one chord of short duration and two close by negatives on either side of Patrick's location it seems unlikely that this is a real positive.

Comments: I attempted to observe the Piaf event this evening.

I had difficulty locating the star initially because of twilight and
then cloud about 25 minutes prior to the event.

This cleared and I managed to locate the field.

The star seemed to be a component of a close double and the event
was a ‘blink’ of possibly 1 sec duration but may possibly have been
due to atmospherics although the star was visible continuously up to
that point but Dave Herald advised me to report the time anyway.

[It is always worth reporting all observations - jt]

Comments: I saw lots of turbulence with the three stars in a row
all fluctuating in brightness but I would say no event on the star in question.
