Patsayev occultation - 2008 September 28

Discussion:

The circle above is plotted at the expected 26 km diameter of Patsayev. With only one chord it is not possible to determine whether John was north or south of the central line of the event. However, the close match to the expected length of the chord would suggest that the chord might lie close to the central portion of the asteroid.

The result had low probability of success but shows that it is definitely worth having a go when you are within the 1 or even 2 sigma zone and the skies are clear.

The figures below show the drift-scan image of the occultation and the light curve as analysed by John's Scanalyser software.
