Doris occultation - 2010 July 30

Discussion:

The circle above is plotted at the expected 122 km diameter of Doris. With only one chord it is not possible to determine whether Paul was north or south of the central line of the event. However, assuming the updated prediction was approximately correct the very close to maximum expected chord of about 122 km would suggest that the chord might lie close to the central portion of the asteroid.
The failure of many even experienced observers to find the field suggests that we all need more praactice! Thanks for so many having a go.
