OCCULTATION OF UCAC2 38788900 BY 49 Pales
2010 December 31

Five clearly observed misses were recorded for this event. Eight observers from both sides of the Tasman sea had registered in Occult Watcher, and another 3 were also going to try. The spacing was good but the weather in NZ did co-operate with both wind and cloud causing problems.

Pales occultation - 2010 December 31

Discussion:

The circle above is plotted at the expected 149 km diameter of Pales. With no positive chords we cannot say where the actual path was, so the circle has been plotted on the predicted path.

Comments: This was my first attempt at an occultation observation,
and I was assisted by Dave Gault. Any inaccuracies are my own, however.
The LiMovie analysis was carried out by Dave Gault.
It is on this analysis that I offer this report.
I attach the light curve with this report.
