1985FF2 Update Map


On 2015 Dec 27 UT, the 11 km diameter asteroid (29127) 1985 FF2 will occult a 2.6 mag star (beta Ari) in the constellation Aries for observers along a narrow path across Australia, from near Sydney across New South Wales, south-western Queensland and central Northern Territory to near Timber Creek. The path passes only just south of the South Island of New Zealand.

In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 16.0 mag to 18.6 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 3.0 seconds.
