Palisana Update Map


On 2019 May 07 UT, the 84 km diameter asteroid (914) Palisana will occult a 12.5 mag star in the constellation Sagittarius for observers along a path across eastern Australia from Mt Gambier across south-eastern South Australia, western Victoria and New South Wales and south-eastern Queensland to Rockhampton.

In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 0.54 mag to 12.01 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 7.8 seconds.

This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center.
