On 2022 May 20 UT, the 176 km diameter asteroid (241) Germania will occult a 11.2 mag star in the constellation Capricornus for observers along a fairly broad path across the North Island of New Zealand, including most of the island north of about Hamilton and south of Russell, including Auckland, and across south-eastern Australia, including most of Victoria north of Melbourne and south-eastern South Australia south of Adelaide, at low elevation.

In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 1.91 mag to 12.93 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 19.550 seconds.

This update is based on, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center.
