On 2022 Sep 08 UT, the 57.7 km diameter asteroid (509) Iolanda will occult a 11.1 mag star in the constellation Aquila for observers along a path across Australia, from Weipa across eastern Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales to Coffs Harbour.

In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 2.54 mag to 13.55 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 8.800 seconds.

This update is based on, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center.
