MINOR PLANET OCCULTATION TEXT REPORT FORM V1.0c This form is based on a meld of ideas to make automated loading to Occult3 Reporting easier and has been drawn from: RASNZ OCCULTATION SECTION IOTA EAON This prior work is gratefully acknowledged. * Note an Excel report form is available at http://occsec.wellington.net.nz/report.htm or http://www.asteroidoccultation.com/observations/data2006/ with many Pull Down list fields that makes it easy to fill in consistently and will print on just one page, but it does require MS Excel or Open Office, and uses a bit more disk space and bandwidth. * Save a copy of this page to an ordinary text file on your hard disk. (Use FILE->SAVE AS... and then strip out these lines of text at the top). Then use this file as a template to construct future occultation reports: * Adjust your editor to show at least 80 columns. If the end of this line has 80 you are correctlty set. * Fill in all the unchanging information in the template. * When you want to send a report, copy the template to a new report file and fill in the remaining information. * The preferred format to assist automated transfer of data to analysis software is shown in ( ) but if you use other formats your data will still be captured, it just takes a bit longer to transcribe. * If you observe an event with double star or other multiple event please use a separate form for each star and note "2nd Star" after Star name field. * Please use this format to name your file: yyyymmdd_MPNumber_StarName_YourLastName.txt eg 20061007_31_TYC_2979_00969_1_Timerson.txt for a second component add a digit: eg 20061007_31_TYC_2979_00969_1_Timerson2.txt * Then as soon as possible please ATTACH a copy of the report file to an email message addressed to: For Australia, New Zealand email to: Graham.Blow@actrix.gen.nz and john.talbot@xtra.co.nz or post to RASNZ Occultation Section / P.O. Box 2241 / Wellington / NEW ZEALAND For Americas email to: reports@asteroidoccultation.com For rest of world email to: jan.manek@worldonline.cz * add your data after the : at the end of th einput lines -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MINOR PLANET OCCULTATION TEXT REPORT FORM V1.0c (View this form in a non-proportional font - e.g. Courier 10pt) Occultation Recorded : (Positive or Negative) Planet (Number Name) for MPs : Star Name (Catalog number) : Eg.
